Ukulele Celebration to Feature Motown Hits

COTUIT – The sixth annual Ukulele Celebration will be held at the Cotuit Center for the Arts next month – with a Motown theme.

The concert, which is Saturday, Decemeber 9 at 1 p.m., will feature some of the Cape’s best ukers and the traditional “Uke-A-Long” giving everyone with a ukulele a chance to play and sing together onstage.

Performers include Steve Gregory’s Uke-topian House Band, George Anzivino’s Zukes Ukulele Orchestra, the Ukeladies, Susan Anarino’s Dolphin Ukulele Ensemble, Two Cool and the Cotuit Center for the Arts All-Stars.

The musicians will play classic Motown hits from artists like Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, the Commodores, the Temptations, the Four Tops and more.

Song charts and instruction videos are available at Arts on the Cape dot org for those playing in the “Uke-A-Long.” Songs include “Sugar Pie Honey Bunch,” “Get Ready,” “Second that Emotion,” and “My Girl.”

A short rehersal will be held an hour before the show.

Tickets are $20 and admission is free for those bringing a ukulele to play in the “Uke-A-Long.” To purchase tickets visit Arts on the Cape dot org.
