HYANNIS – The REMUS SharkCam was recently able to capture high definition, underwater footage of basking sharks off the west coast of Scotland.
The technology was designed and built by the Oceanographic Systems Laboratory at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), and will reveal information about the world’s second largest fish.
The research team includes colleague from the University of Exeter, the World Wildlife Fund, Sky Ocean Rescue, and the Scottish Natural Heritage.
Field footage for the project was done in July. For more information, head to www.whoi.edu.
