MASHPEE – The 20th edition of the Cape and Islands United Way’s “Best Night of the Year” was its best night yet.
The organization which works to improve lives and strengthen the Cape and Islands communities raised a record $220,000 during its fundraiser last month at Willowbend in Mashpee.
“This year’s event was the perfect balance of celebration and good will,” said Todd Machnik, chair of the Board of Directors for the Cape and Islands United Way. “We shared stories – and recognized the people who got Best Night off the ground. The memories and the good that has been done inspired people to give generously.”
More than $2 million has been raised over the 20 years of the Best Night event.
Approximately 30 percent of the organization’s programs for 2018-19 will be supported by the funds raised.
