Upcoming Egg Hunt Will Help To Clothe Kids

HYANNIS – On Saturday the 24th, Katelynn’s Closet will hold its 5th annual Adult Easter Egg Hunt.

The event will take place at Torino Restaurant on Main Street in Hyannis, with the doors opening at 4:00 and the hunt starting around 6:00. There will be hors d’oeurves, live entertainmentand a cash bar.

Only two hundred $30 tickets will be sold, so purchasing them early is recommended. Hand painted eggs will be sold at the door to the hunt participants, who will then hide them around the grounds. There will be a limited number of eggs sold, each representing a prize ranging in value.

Attendees will also have the chance to participate in special raffles and a silent auction.

Established in 2009, Katelynn’s Closet is a non-profit which provides local needy children, between the ages of 4 and 18, with clothing. One of the organizations founders, and its Executive Director, Ann Bearse, explains how it works. “We provide them with a weeks’ worth of clothing that is stylish and well fitting. We partner with social service agents here on the Cape and Islands. They put in orders for the children that are in need and we fill them.”

The agents provide the child’s age, size, initials, and any special request items like a winter jacket or footwear. The clothing is picked up at their warehouse and delivered to the child in need. Katelynn’s Closet does not judge need or know the identities of the children they serve.

Bearse points out just how important the clothes are to the recipients. “I think it’s such a simple thing we can do for these kids that have so many obstacles every day. One thing they don’t need to be worried about is what they look like or how kids are gonna treat them or how comfortable they are.”

They do not respond to requests from family members or the general public.
