Upper Cape Hazardous Household Waste Collection This Weekend

MASHPEE – A hazardous household waste collection for Upper Cape residents is being held this weekend at Mashpee High School.

Interested residents can turn in hazardous materials at the school on Saturday, August 19th from 9 am until 1 pm.

The collection is one in a series that has taken place this summer, organized by the Cape Cod Extension, which will continue on the second Saturday of each month until October.

Items accepted through the free collection program include Marine materials, fertilizers and pesticides, household cleaners and chemicals, gasoline, mercury products, arts and crafts chemicals and paints, pesticides, pool and yard chemicals, oil-based paints, polishes and stains.

Latex paints will not be accepted. They can be disposed of by pouring an equal amount of latex paint over kitty litter, then letting the mix dry out. Then it can be put in the trash.
