Offshore Wind Companies Seek Uniform Layout

HYANNIS – The Coast Guard has received a proposal from the five companies that hold leases for wind sites off the shores of New England to create a uniform turbine layout.

Equinor, Mayflower Wind, Ørsted, Eversource, and Vineyard Wind proposed the uniform layout to comply with requests and needs from fishermen and maritime users throughout the region.

Turbines would be spaced one nautical mile apart from each other, organized in rows from east to west and columns from north to south.

The companies say this allows for more safe and accessible routes to be taken as the layout of the turbines would be predictable and consistent.
