WAREHAM – The region’s first recreational marijuana store is temporarily reducing its hours of operation.
Verilife, located at 112 Main Street in Wareham, has reduced the store’s operating hours by four hours. On Thursday, the store changed its hours from a 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. day to a 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. day.
Verilife Executive Director Shelley Stormo confirmed the change with CapeCod.com, but didn’t elaborate on why the change occurred when asked.
“This is a temporary reduction in hours, likely through the end of January,” Stormo said.
It’s unknown whether the change is attributed to the continued large customer turnout or any sort of legal issue on the local or state level.
Verilife opened its doors for recreational sales last week. The store saw and continues to see a large turnout.
Traffic in the town was left relatively unaffected by the opening. The Wareham Police Department and Stormo had collaborated to require customers to park at the Water Wizz parking lot on Cranberry Highway before boarding a shuttle over to the store.
Verilife staff and Wareham Police say that the parking measures will remain in place daily until the potential for traffic congestion caused by large customer turnout subsides. During this time, walk-up customers will not be served during the store’s opening days of recreational sales.
