Veteran Program to be On Site at Tonight’s Brewster Whitecaps Game

BREWSTER – “Home Base”, a program that helps Post 9/11 service members, veterans and their families will be in Brewster on Friday night at the Whitecaps game.

The program features a multi-disciplinary team of experts who help the individuals with the invisible wounds of war, which include traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress.

Veteran Outreach Coordinator Tim Dube will represent the organization at the game and throw out the first pitch.

He’s hoping that by having a presence at the game, it will encourage those interested to contact the program.

“Even if I don’t have a lot of conversations with veterans directly at the game, if the patrons come across a veteran that looks like they may need some help, they can throw the option out there to call out and reach out to Home Base,” said Dube.

It’s the largest private sector clinic in America with the sole focus of helping at-risk Veterans and Military families regain the lives they once had.

Dube said that the program has become even more important, given what’s happening to veterans today.

“We are absolutely seeing that it has become more of a focus recently as science and healthcare has progressed and advanced,” said Dube. “This is more of a focal point especially on this present generation of veterans.”

Home Base is a partnership of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital.
