SANDWICH – The Waldorf School of Cape Cod has completed the purchase of a property at 22 Tupper Road in Sandwich, which will be used as their new permanent home.
The purchase ends a long stretch for the school.
They had to leave their leased Cotuit building for a temporary set-up with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Falmouth for this school year. Space limitations have led to the school dropping grades 7 and 8 until the new location opens.
“We’ve worked so hard just to keep going with all the things that have been thrown at us over the last year and a half. We are very, very excited, and super grateful that we’ve been able to pull it off,” said Roxanne King, director of the school.
Debts with the Town of Barnstable were squared away by the school last year.
King said the plan is to open the new Sandwich building to students next September. The building only requires a few refurbishments.
“The building is in very good shape, so it’s just some cosmetic things, moving a couple of walls around,” she said.
“But, nothing too big.”
The property, which was the former home of the Roberti Dairy Farm, features 3.5 acres of green space with gardens, a meadow, and a bamboo forest.
