DEERFIELD, Ill. – A national drug store retailer is introducing new programs in an effort to combat drug abuse.
Walgreens plans to sell naloxone over the counter in 35 states by the end of the year.
The drug counteracts the effects of opioid overdoses.
The retailer will also be installing medication disposal kiosks in 39 states.
Massachusetts stores will be included in the naloxone program but will not provide disposal kiosks.
Walgreens has two locations on Cape Cod in South Yarmouth and Mashpee.
