Walk to Focus on Nature, Life on Province Lands

PROVINCETOWN – The Harwich and Provincetown Conservation Trusts are sponsoring a walk focusing on the nature of life out on the Province Lands next month.

Twelfth generation Cape Codder Todd Kelley and native Wampanoag and Nipmuc Marcus Hendricks will lead the lead the walk that will explore the time period from late-woodland to European contact.

Attendees will also consider life according to the seasons at a place where the elements had a direct impact on survival.

The walk features the natural richness of the area and its stark harshness, along with the impacts of social change evidenced in the land itself.

The story culminates with the Old Colony Railroad opening up land access to Provincetown and the further social changes it brought to the community.

The walk is Saturday, November 3 from 10 a.m. to noon and costs $20 per person. A rain date has been scheduled for Sunday, November 4.

The starting location for the walk will be provided in an email confirming registration.
