FALMOUTH – Throughout the month of April, residents and visitors on Cape Cod will have a chance to learn about the cutting edge research happening around Waquoit Bay.
Each Tuesday evening the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve will host a different scientist who will discuss their research, what they are discovering and how it applies to issues facing the region today.
On April 3, Waquoit Bay Reserve Research Associate Jordan Mora will discuss her work monitoring data on seaweed and eelgrass, along with nitrogen and weather data and how climate changes are affecting the health and productivity of the estuary.
Dr. Megan Tyrrell with the Waquoit Bay Reserve will discuss if humans can increase salt marsh resilience in the face of sea level rise on April 10.
On April 17, Brad Chase, with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, will present an eel biology and management project.
And a discussion on what’s happening with the mud at the bottom of the bay will feature Sarah Foster, a Ph.D. candidate from the Boston University, on April 24.
The free presentations are at 6:30 p.m. at the Waquoit Bay Reserve Visitor Center.
