Water Main Project to Impact Hyannis Streets

water pipe5HYANNIS – The Town of Barnstable Department of Public Works’ Water Supply Division will be starting a water works construction project that will improve the water quality and fire flows for customers of the Hyannis Water System, according to town officials.

This project will replace and upgrade approximately 3,400 feet of water mains on Cook Circle, Highland Street, Foster Road, Chase Street, Old Colony Road and Oak Neck Road.

Included in the project are the replacement of valves, fire hydrants and customer water services up to the property line.

The major work is anticipated to be done this fall and final paving to be completed in the spring of 2015.

There may be brief periods of water service interruption the area.

Prior to any anticipated service interruption, residents will be given 48 hours notice by the contractor.

The specific notices will be distributed to the residents affected by shut-downs, indicating time and day of each shut-down.
