Weeden Tops Field of Four to Win Mashpee Selectmen’s Seat

MASHPEE – A member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe who once served on the planning board has been elected to the Mashpee Board of Selectmen.

David Weeden picked up the most votes in a four-way special election Tuesday to fill the spot left by the death of John Cahalane earlier this year.

Weeden topped the ticket with 804 votes.

Michael Richardson came in second with 571 votes, while Elana Doyle finished third with 428 votes. Robert Bono received 70 votes and finished fourth.

Weeden will be sworn-in later this week to finish the unexpired term and will serve for eight months before the next regularly schedule election.
