Wellfleet Bay Hosting Annual Cape Cod Natural History Conference

Cape_Cod_Community_College_001WELLFLEET – Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting their 21st annual Cape Cod Natural History Conference at Cape Cod Community College’s Tilden Arts Center.

For more than 20 years, Wellfleet Bay has organized the full day conference featuring presenters from environmental organizations across Cape Cod speaking on a diversity of natural history topics.

Organizers say that the conference is an engaging, exciting and fun way to learn about local research projects, conservation efforts and local environmental organizations.

The event will feature more information about what Massachusetts birders are learning after 10 years of birding the continental shelf, what fish are living in Pleasant Bay and how baby horseshoe crabs were impacted by 2014’s harsh winter.

Participants are asked to bring a brown bag lunch and to help cut down on waste, bring a mug for coffee.

The event will be held on March 5 and registration is $25 per person until February 27, when it will then change to $30 per person.

Mass Audubon’s roots were established in 1896 by founding mothers Harriet Lawrence Hemenway and Minna B. Hall, who persuaded ladies of fashion to forgo the cruelly harvested plumage that adorned their hats.
