Wellfleet Intersection To Get Improvements

WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Town Meeting members last night approved funding to begin a project to upgrade the intersection of Route 6 and Main Street.

The intersection is widely considered dangerous, as multiple car crashes and even fatalities have occurred.

Wellfleet

Town Meeting voted to spend $200,000 for the engineering and design of the project, which will be designed to approve the safety of the intersection.

Route 6 is a state highway so any construction costs will be funded by the state.

The project is slated to begin in 2018.

Wellfleet voters also approved a  $19 million municipal budget during town meeting, as well as expenditures through the Community Preservation Act. Several debt exclusions were approved that will appear on the town election ballot later this month.
