Wellfleet Lecture to Focus on Woodpeckers

WELLFLEET – Mass Audubon’s Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is inviting residents on Cape Cod to get out of the cold with a warm beverage next month and discover the region’s avian diversity.

“Cheep Eats: Wonderful Woodpeckers” is a 30-minute indoor presentation at the Sanctuary in South Wellfleet on Thursday, February 14 at 11 a.m.

Woodpeckers are a fascinating and charismatic group and attendees will learn which species call Cape Cod home, how to identify them, and what adaptations set them apart from other birds.

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.

Admission is $5, $3 for members and registration is required.

Nonmembers can join while registering and take immediate advantage of member prices.

It provides year-round programs for all ages, a youth summer camp, and research and conservation projects focusing on threatened shorebirds, diamondback terrapins, horseshoe crabs and sea turtles.
