WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Police are investigating a fatal head-on crash that claimed the life of one person early Saturday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at 2586 Route Six around 1:15 p.m. after receiving numerous calls for a reported head-on accident.
Upon arrival, police discovered two vehicles involved and rescuers began CPR on the passenger of one vehicle, who sustained life threatening injuries.
The passenger was transported to Cape Cod Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
The operators of both vehicles were also transported to Cape Cod Hospital.
Police say a 2007 Subaru was traveling northbound on Route Six when it was struck head-on by a 2014 Audi traveling southbound.
The highway was down to one lane for about two hours while the scene was under investigation.
Eastham and Truro Police assisted with traffic at the scene.
