Wellfleet Town Meeting Voters to Debate Police Station Funding

KA_Wellfleet_Town offices hall65_112315WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Town Meeting voters will be asked Tuesday night to spend $7.5 million to make repairs and upgrades to the community’s 33-year-old police station.

Article 1 seeks funding for the final phase of the complex’s renovation, which was built in 1983.

The Police Department moved into the building when the Fire Department moved into its new facility in 2009.

According to town officials, while the entire space is large enough, it’s not efficiently organized to support police operations. The building is also in need of repairs.

Other items on the warrant include money for the Housing Rental Assistance Program, funding for a survey of several beaches in Wellfleet and a solar net metering credit.

Wellfleet Town Meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Wellfleet Elementary School.
