Wellfleet Voters to Decide Selectmen’s Race, Prop 2 1/2 Proposals

WELLFLEET – Voters in Wellfleet head to the polls today to decide a contested race for a vacant seat on the Board of Selectmen and three proposition 2 1/2 proposals.

Thomas Flynn and Kathleen Bacon are running to replace Berta Bruinooge, who is not seeking re-election. There are no other contested races.

Voters will also consider three proposition 2 1/2 proposals.

A $147,000 override would fund two additional full-time firefighters. A second $50,000 override would launch a recycling pilot program at town beaches and recreation areas. The town is also looking to borrow $108,000 over three years to fund their share of building needs at Nauset Regional High School.

Polls are open from noon to 7 p.m. at the Wellfleet Senior Center on Old King’s Highway.
