West Nile Still Dangerous

BOSTON – Four new cases of West Nile Virus have been discovered in the Commonwealth according to the state Department of Public Health. The cases include a woman and two men in Middlesex County and a woman from Plymouth County, all were hospitalized.

This brings the total cases of West Nile Virus to 42 this year, that is the highest number ever recorded in Massachusetts, the previous record was 33 in 2012, in 2017 there were 6 people infected.

Health officials say that although mosquito season is winding down, repellent should still be used as mosquitos still alive at this time of year are more likely to be carrying the disease.
