Whale Week is Here in Provincetown

PROVINCETOWN – Shark week is wrapping up but this week in Provincetown it’s all about whales.

The Center for Coastal Studies will host Whale Week – A Celebration of the Sea from Sunday, July 29 to Saturday, August 4.

Whale Week features several fun, family-friendly events and activities – all with a briny theme.

Events kick off Sunday morning with the Run the Trails for the Whales 5K. The run through the Province Lands in the Cape Cod National Seashore beneftis the center’s education programs. The run starts at 8 a.m. with check in beginning at 7 a.m.

The center is partnering with the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum for Whale Week Amazing Race 4 on Wednesday, August 1 at 1 p.m. Teams of up to four people will compete in a race to learn about the marine history of the town.

The cost is $30 per team and registration will be on MacMillian Pier on race day.

Another highlight is the Home Made Boat Race on Thursday, August 2 at 5 p.m. The race highlights the issue of marine debris in the ocean. Pre-registration is required.
