Whaling Museum Curators to Discuss Early America/Asia Relations

 

NEW BEDFORD – Curators and historians will discuss the themes of the exhibit “The East unlocks it’s gates: American Whalers and Trade in Asia”, on November 15th at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. 

Several experts on the topic, including the curators of social history and maritime history, will touch upon the relationships between american whalers, merchants and the east. 

Trading was the impetus behind the Western “age of discovery”, ushering in key components of maritime history. 

2017 is the centennial of theAamerica-Japan society, an organization which pursues educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries. 

The event begins at 7 pm with tickets costing $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
