Race Point Beach Reopens after White Shark Sighting

COURTESY OF THE ATLANTIC WHITE SHARK CONSERVANCY / MASS DMF: A 13-foot white shark was spotted by researchers this morning off Nauset Beach in Orleans.

PROVINCETOWN – Race Point Beach in Provincetown has reopened to swimming after being closed this afternoon due to a confirmed white shark sighting.

According to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy’s Sharktivity app, the sighting occurred just before 1 p.m.

Race Point was the third Outer Cape beach closed this week due to the presence of white sharks.

Nauset Beach in Orleans was closed Monday after a seal was attacked feet from shore and Marconi Beach in Orleans was closed Wednesday after a paddle board was bitten.

Researchers with the conversancy also tagged a 12-foot shark Thursday off Provincetown and spotted a 13-footer this morning off Nauset Beach.
