WHOI to Host 2019 Marine Robotics Entrepreneurs Forum

WOODS HOLE – The marine robotics industry and the Blue Economy continue to grow in Massachusetts and the 2019 Marine Robotics Entrepreneurs Forum will be held today in Woods Hole.

The Center for Marine Robotics at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution will host the event, which brings together leaders from diverse tech areas to discuss the future of the industry and challenges, along with showcasing new innovations.

A panel discussion, “The Future of Ocean Research,” will be held from noon to 1:15 p.m. in the Redfield Auditorium.

Speakers include Tom Drake, the Head of Ocean Battlespace and Expeditionary Access, Office of Naval Research, US Navy; Christine Fox, the assistant director of John Hopkins Applied Research Lab; Carolyn Kirk, the executive director of Massachusetts Technology Collaborative; and moderator Jim Bellingham, the director of WHOI’s Center for Marine Robotics.

Exhibits and in-water demonstrations of new technology will be held before the panel from 10 a.m. to noon and following the discussion from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at WHOI’s Islin Marine Facility dock area.
