Winter Storm Watch Posted for Cape Cod; 2-4 Inches Possible

Snow MapHYANNIS – A winter storm moving south of New England this week is expected to give Cape Cod a glancing blow of snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket from Friday afternoon through late Friday night.

Forecasters predict that 2-to-4 inches are likely, with the possibility of slightly higher amounts depending on the track of the storm.

The snow is expected to overspread the Cape and Islands by mid-morning Friday and continue into the evening.

Winds on Friday night could be steady at 25-to-30 mph, with gusts near 40 mph. That could bring down some tree limbs and lead to possible scattered power outages.

The storm will move away from the coast late Friday night, leaving sunshine in its wake for Saturday.
