Winter Weather Makes Its Return to Cape and Islands

BARNSTABLE – Snow is in the forecast for Cape Cod as temperatures drop and a coastal system moves into the region Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

In total, forecasters are calling for 4-6 inches of accumulation for the Upper and Mid Cape, Martha’s Vineyard and the Plymouth area. Slightly smaller snowfall totals are predicted for the Lower and Outer Cape and Nantucket at 3-4 inches.

The majority of the snowfall will come Monday night and into the early morning hours of Tuesday.

A wind advisory is also in effect late Monday and into Tuesday morning, with gusts up to 45 miles per hour possible.

A coastal flood advisory has been posted for Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
