Wolf Weighs in on Casino Repeal

dwolfBOSTON -The benefits and detriments of casinos in the commonwealth are again a matter of debate about a recent court decision that will put the matter to voters this fall.

Cape and Islands State Senator Dan Wolf says he agrees with the Supreme Judicial Court ruling to allow voters to consider a repeal of the 2011 casino gambling law.

“It’s really going to be a good thing that the citizens of the commonwealth are going to be able to take another look at it and vote statewide whether or not we want to see casino gambling as part of how we view our future here in the commonwealth,” he said.

Wolf said he believes there is more information on casinos now than there was three years ago.

“We have a lot more data about saturation in New England, about the other states that have done it, what they’ve learned from it, whether it has helped communities, what some of the social costs are,” he said.

He said he’s happy voters with voters getting a fresh look at the law, which he opposed.

“A lot has changed as we’ve had this debate over the last ten years,” he said.
