Woman Dies After Drowning Incident in Wareham

WAREHAM – A woman died at Tobey Hospital Wednesday after a drowning incident at Swift’s Beach in Wareham.

Wareham Interim Chief of Police Kevin Walsh identified the woman as Carol Whitney, 64, of Templeton.

Wareham Police responded to the scene around 11:30 Wednesday morning where they found citizens performing CPR on the victim.

Officers continued those efforts until medical personnel arrived and transported Whitney to Tobey Hospital.

The victim was observed swimming just before the incident.
