HYANNIS – Women from across the Cape gathered in Hyannis yesterday for the Cape Women’s Coalition event at the Doubletree Hotel.

The event was sponsored by the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank and included State Rep. Sarah Peake, Falmouth Selectman Su Moran and former Orleans selectman Margie Fulcher.

Event Chair Tina Games was impressed with the 200 people who turned out.

“We’re going to be doing this event every year, we have a theme,” said Games. “This organization has grown up so much in the last three years, this is our third event.”

Boston City Council President Michelle Wu delivered the keynote address and the event also featured a special video message by U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Wu came away impressed by the event and said she hopes to attend future sessions.

“I truly believe that women in leadership make a huge difference in the community and if the women in this room represent the current and future leadership for the Cape, I’m thrilled for what that means for the Commonwealth,” said Wu.

The Coalition consists of individuals and groups working together as an agent of change to encourage and support women to enter public life and become leaders through civic engagement.
