Woods Hole Lab Leader Named to National Academy of Medicine

WOODS HOLE – Huntington Willard, Ph.D., president and director of the Marine Biological Laboratory, was recently elected to the National Academy of Medicine.

The election is considered one of the highest honors in the field. New members are elected by their peers in the academy.

Willard is a leader in the fields of genetics and genome biology, having contributed towards the Woods Hole laboratory’s work in development of “new” non-traditional organisms with the genetic makeup of a diverse range of marine organisms.

The National Academy of Medicine was founded in 1970 as the Institute of Medicine and is recognized as a national source for informed health issue recommendations.
