Wound Care and Rehabilitation Services Open in Hyannis

Wound CareHYANNIS – Cape Cod Healthcare has opened its second Wound Care Center in Hyannis.

The Hyannis center joins its partners, Cape Cod Healthcare Wound Care, Hyperbaric Medicine Center in Bourne and the VNA of Cape Cod, in highly specialized evaluation and referral for treatment for all types of wounds.

“When we can get closer to the patient and create better access, we can improve their outcomes and lower costs and that’s exactly what we want to do as a healthcare system,” said Cape Cod Healthcare CEO and President Michael Lauf.

Chronic, non-healing wounds require specialized care from physicians and nurses trained and experienced in wound care.

A wound is considered chronic if it has not healed by 30 to 40 percent in four weeks.

The CCHC wound care team treats chronic wounds such as diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, trauma wounds and post-operative complications.

“By creating the right access, by working with education, by working with rehabilitation, by doing things like wound care, we can improve people’s health and that’s what we’re here to do,” said Lauf.
