Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce Hires New Executive Director

Mary VilbonYARMOUTH – The long-time Executive Director of the Greater Shelburne Falls Area Business Association has been named to the same position with the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber’s Board of Directors voted unanimously last month to hire Mary Vilbon and pointed to her experience in grant writing, public policy and tourism as a benefit to the organization.

In 2014, Vilbon received a Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism award for “excellence in tourism leadership” at the Governor’s Conference on Travel and Tourism.

She was honored for her success in leveraging tourism, the arts and film production to benefit communities.

Vilbon replaces interim Executive Director Linda Jean, who took over in May 2014.

“Linda has created structure and put in place a business plan and strategy for reaching out to the people here and the business community,” said Chamber Vice President of Red Jacket Resorts Kenneth Smith. “She’s set it up so that the next Executive Director will be able to keep the Chamber sailing in the right direction.”

Jean is planning to stay in town and will continue to be involved in the Chamber, its events and membership, he said.

Vilbon started in the position last week and was introduced to Chamber members at an event recently at the Cape Cod Inflatable Park.
