Yarmouth DPW Director Updates Selectmen on Major Road Projects

KA_Yarmouth_Town Hall_04_120215YARMOUTH – Yarmouth’s Department of Public Works Director provided selectmen with an overview of the town’s major road projects on Tuesday night.

Jeff Colby outlined the 12 projects in a presentation for selectmen.

They were distinguished from annual paving work in that they are either on state roadways and require state approval, or are larger drainage and sidewalk projects that may require funding beyond what is available from annual roadway funding.

Colby discussed the three drainage and sidewalk projects on Higgins Crowell Road, Camp Street and Bayview Road to selectmen.

“These are all in the design phase, we have a little more control relative to those projects,” said Colby. “Typically these are projects that are good candidates for Chapter 90 funding and for all of those, they are in some various stages of design.”

The projects discussed include work on the Route 28/Winslow Gray Road intersection, the Route 6 Bass River Bridge replacement and Route 6A corridor improvements.

The Route 28/Winslow Gray Road Intersection project is a priority for selectmen.

“There are some elements of this project that hit not only on transportation safety, but economic development,” said Colby.

Selectmen provided their feedback to Colby in order for the department to prioritize the 12 projects.
