Yarmouth Meth Lab Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

meth-boyBARNSTABLE – The man accused of running a makeshift meth lab on the old cranberry bog property near Cape Cod Hospital pleaded not guilty Monday.

31-year-old Stewart Catchings is being held on $2,500 bail. He is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Catchings was arraigned at Barnstable District Court and is scheduled to appear again in court later this month.

Catchings was taken into custody by Yarmouth police during a search of a homeless camp on the property. Police say they found two “shake and bake” methamphetamine labs in two of the five tents in the camp.

Officers say Catchings told them he was “a safe cook” during his arrest.

The D.E.A. and state police bomb squad assisted with the investigation.
