Yarmouth Officials: Stay Cool Today With Heat Advisory in Effect

Smuggler’s Beach in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH – With temperatures expected to soar into the mid-80’s and heat advisory in effect, Yarmouth town officials are urging residents, especially seniors, to stay cool today.

Director of Community Services Pat Armstrong said the Yarmouth Senior Center and all town libraries will be open and air conditioned all day.

“So if they feel like they’re really getting overheated, they should call the fire department immediately,” said Armstrong.

If you need transportation, you can call 508-394-7606.

Armstrong said it’s important to stay cool and not stay in a hot home or apartment all day if you don’t have air conditioning.

“Drink a lot of fluids, take it easy. If you have an opportunity, stop by somewhere that’s cool and get a cold drink and let your body temperature come down,” she said.
