YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police arrested a 30-year-old man Thursday night after he was allegedly found with drugs and had two outstanding felony warrants.
Police say they were monitoring activity at the Stop and Shop parking lot on Long Pond Drive around 6 p.m. when they observed a suspicious person stopping and standing behind bushes between the parking lot and the Long Pond entrance to Swan Pond Village.
As police encountered the individual, they recognized him as Christopher Andrade, who was known to have outstanding arrest warrants.
Police patted down Andrade and a search of the immediate area revealed two hypodermic syringes that were inside his inner coat pocket and a clear knotted bag containing several smaller individually knotted corner cut baggies containing tan powder.
The tan powder was field-tested as heroin.
Andrade was placed under arrest on the two outstanding warrants out of Barnstable District Court for Felony Drug Distribution and Felony Larceny and was transported to the Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters for booking.
Andrade was arraigned in Barnstable District Court Friday on charges of Warrant for Heroin Distribution, Warrant for Larceny and Possession to Distribute Class A Heroin.
