Yarmouth Police Department welcomes newest member of patrol force

YARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Police Department is proud to announce the Swearing-In and Badge Pinning ceremony of our newest Yarmouth Police Officer and invites all members of the public to welcome him to the department and our community Tuesday night at Yarmouth Town Hall on Route 28 in South Yarmouth at 6PM.

Our new Police Officer has successfully completed a rigorous series of academic, physical, and psychological testing, interviews, and background checks and has joined the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department as we represent our commitment to the community and our motto of Excellence in Policing.

Once he successfully completes his 12-week Field Training Program he will become a member of the Patrol Force which is the frontline of community policing in Yarmouth.

Our new Police Officer is:

Jeffrey M. Rivett

Patrol Officer Jeffrey M. Rivett age 39 graduated from the Municipal Police Officer Training Committee 62nd Recruit Officers Course of the Plymouth Regional Police Academy on September 23, 2016.

Prior to joining the Yarmouth Police Department, Patrol Officer Rivett recently retired as a Master Chief Boatswain’s Mate of the United States Coast Guard where he has served proudly for over 20 years in various duty stations such as:

• Woods Hole, Massachusetts
• Oak Island, North Carolina
• Newport, Rhode Island
• Seattle, Washington
• Caswell Beach, North Carolina

Patrol Officer Rivett has received extensive training as a member of the United States Coast Guard and has earned numerous certifications.  In addition, Patrol Officer Rivett has earned an Associate in Science Degree Magna Cum Laude from the Vincennes University in Indiana and is pursuing a Bachelor in Science Degree in American History and Criminal Justice at Columbia Southern University in Orange, Alabama.

Patrol Officer Rivett is Class of 1995 graduate of U-32 High School in Montpelier, Vermont and is married to his wife Amanda and they are the proud parents of their 11-year old son Mason.

The men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department deeply appreciate all of the supportive efforts of our government officials and fellow citizens as we welcome Patrol Officer Jeffrey M. Rivett and his family to our police department we continue to move forward together to transform Yarmouth in to one of the safest communities in the region and urge all members of the community to join us in celebrating this special ceremonial event.
