Yarmouth Police Equipped with Narcan

ER medical symbolYARMOUTH –  The Yarmouth Police Department joins the majority of Cape towns that are supplying police officers with Narcan, which can counteract the effects of an opioid overdose.

Lt. Kevin Lennon says officers asses the person suffering from a possible overdose and now have narcan available if necessary.

“We look at evidence at the scene, what people are telling us, generally we get a call about an overdose. We go there, we talk to people, and once we are on scene we make a determination and can administer the narcan if necessary.”

All of the Yarmouth officers have been specially trained in the use of the medication, it was provided by the Sheriff’s office.
