YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police will open their first K-9 kennel Saturday at their headquarters on Brad Erickson Way in West Yarmouth. It will be a safe haven for the dogs to train and stay while commanders officers are at the station.

The kennel is named The Peter McClelland Police K-9 Kennel.

McClelland is a retired K-9 officer who still dedicates much of his time training, caring and even dog sitting for the police canines.

He has dedicated 32 years of service to the police force and is responsible for a large amount of laws pertaining to the K-9 forces in Massachusetts.

While the dogs commanders are either at the courthouse or station, the dogs will be in their own “station” getting ready for their next shift.  from my iPhone

Saturday’s event runs from 1-2 p.m.
