Yarmouth Police Save Overdose Victim with Narcan

Yarmouth PoliceWEST YARMOUTH – Yarmouth police officers saved the life of a drug overdose victim this afternoon with Narcan, a drug which counteracts the effects of opioid overdoses.

Police received a call around 2:30 p.m. reporting a man not breathing after an overdose in West Yarmouth.

Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old man in the bathroom unresponsive and not breathing with a blue face.

Police sprayed Narcan into the nostrils of the victim and he was conscious and alert within seconds.

Yarmouth fire and rescue crews arrived and performed advanced first aid and life support before taking the victim to Cape Cod Hospital.

The man is expected to survive.

Yarmouth police have responded to 50 drug overdoses this year.
