Yarmouth Selectmen Approve Contract of New Town Administrator

YARMOUTH – Yarmouth selectmen have approved the contract of their next town administrator.

The deal was approved by a vote of 4-0-1.

Daniel Knapik is currently the Green Communities Director for the Department of Energy Resources.

Selectmen unanimously voted to choose him as the new Town Administrator in November.

Selectman Michael Stone led on contract negotiations with Knapik.

“We met in executive session with the full board, got their final input, put that in the form of a contract and sent it to Dan,” said Stone. “He responded that it was acceptable to him.”

Knapik, who was also a former western Massachusetts mayor, was chosen over Harwich Town Administrator Christopher Clark.

He will take the reins from Robert Lawton who has been serving as Interim Town Administrator since the departure of Peter Johnson-Staub in November.

“He did indicate that after we approve this contract he would have to give two weeks’ notice to his employer and he gave us a tentative start date of somewhere around the 17th or 18th of this month,” said Stone.

Selectmen did not reveal the details about the contract when they discussed the matter at their meeting this week.
