Yarmouth Selectmen Impose Two-Day Suspension on Local Pub

gavelYARMOUTH – The Yarmouth Board of Selectmen Tuesday voted a two-day suspension of the liquor license of Red Faced Jack’s Sports Pub for serving alcohol to an intoxicated person.

Erik Tolley, Chairman of the Yarmouth Board of Selectmen, said the board researched precedents but discovered they had not had a show cause hearing for seven years.

“This was an extremely difficult decision for us given the licensee’s, the fact that they own multiple restaurants in town, have a very long history in town, and a spotless reputation,” he said.

When it came time to vote, the board was split by a vote of 3 to 2 on the penalty.

“Some members originally felt that a much stronger penalty was in order and other members originally felt that a much more lenient penalty was in order. We compromised on the penalty that we arrived at,” he said.

The penalty was to take place Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The board also voted on a five-day suspension that would not be imposed unless there was another violation within the next six months.
