Yarmouth Selectmen Receive 2016 Golf Operations Update

GolfClubBallYARMOUTH – The numbers for Yarmouth golf courses were up this year, according to golf officials who discussed the details with selectmen at their meeting this week.

Total revenues, which included numbers from the Bass River and Bayberry Hills golf courses and restaurants, as well as memberships, saw an increase of 4.5 percent, or $149,000 more than 2015 revenues.

Total revenues for 2016 came in at $3,473,394, compared to $3,324,009 in 2015.

“Fiscal 2016 actually became the fifth year in succession and the ninth and the eleventh year history of the enterprise itself, to show a positive revenue over expenditures for Fiscal Year 2006 through 2016,” said Director of Golf Operations Jim Armentrout.

Total expenses, which includes staff salaries and maintenance at the courses and restaurants, increased by 4.3 percent or $142,000, from 2015 total expenses.

The town saw a net income of more than $6,600 or 55.5 percent from 2015 numbers.

“The goal of providing an affordable and quality recreational experience for residents of the town has been reasonably well met by the enterprise committee,” said Armentrout.

The renovation of the ninth hole at Bayberry Hills and the makeover of the Bass River Restaurant were accomplished with the help of funds generated.
