SOUTH YARMOUTH – The town of Yarmouth unveiled the completed Packet Landing Pavilion Thursday morning.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to open the covered structure, marking the completion of the Packet Landing Park and Marina along the Bass River in South Yarmouth.
Town Planner Kathy Williams expects the pavilion to be used for weddings, concerts and much more.
“The architect did a beautiful job of really making the pavilion fit within the setting,” Williams said. “I think it looks very reminiscent of a boat house when you are looking at it from far away.”
Williams said the structure is a beautiful gateway and representation of the town of Yarmouth.
“People come over the Bass River and the first thing you see is this beautiful structure,” she said.
“And it stands up high enough so it’s very, very visible, but also it is open so we are not blocking any views of people from the water coming from the other direction as well.”
The pavilion includes an open air deck and public restrooms. Additional benches are also being donated from local civic associations.
