HYANNIS – The Cape Cod Baseball League has received a $100,000 grant from the Yawkey Foundation for the continued renovations of McKeon Field used by the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
The funds will be used to build two new handicap accessible dugouts and help with the design and cost for a new, state-of-the-art Daktronics scoreboard.
In July, the town of Barnstable awarded the Harbor Hawks $700,000 for a rehabilitation of Judy Walden Scarafile Field at the park.
Renovations began August 12 and are well underway.
“We are very grateful to the Foundation for helping us with this project. This will enable us to finish the field renovations and add a top-quality scoreboard,” said team president Brad Pfeifer.
“It will also be good for downtown Hyannis and all teams that use the field.”
The Yawkey Foundation has supported the Cape Cod Baseball League since 1995.
