Yellow Dog Music Fest Ready to Hit the Beach Saturday

Yellow DogBARNSTABLE – Nature and music will be the theme on Saturday, September 15, as the Barnstable Land Trust holdS the second annual Yellow Dog Music fest at the Craigville Beach Association.

The lineup for the six-hour event will feature international recording star Cody Simpson, local Cape bands, as well as a number of top-rated rock and pop bands from Berklee College of Music in Boston.

BLT has been working for more than 30 years to preserve open spaces in the seven villages of Barnstable, and with an event like this, it’s an opportunity for younger generations of Cape Codders to become involved in preserving the Cape’s natural resources.

“This is an opportunity to resonate with an event with people who are either younger and/or just moving into their working life and understand that (Barnstable) Land Trust is a really good organization to commit to and support,” event organizer Sarah Mayo said.

The organization is currently the steward of 1,075 acres of land in Barnstable’s seven villages, and with the price of land increasing, the non-profit’s mission is more vital than ever.

“We have an opportunity now to continue to identify open spaces in places that need protection so that our natural resources and habitat of all our wildlife is protected,”BLT Interim Executive Director Pam Danforth said.

The Yellow Dog Musicfest will run from 1-7 p.m. Tickets are $40 in advance, and $50 the day of the event.
