It was the 4th Annual District 10 American Legion all-star game and second straight at Rockland’s beautiful, circa-1940s ballpark.

Deadlocked in a scoreless tie after two frames, the West jumped on Wareham Post 220 righty Cam Coelho for three hits and a walk, combined with a key infield error and a sacrifice fly before Coelho got himself out of the frame with a two-out strikeout.

The West jumped ahead in the sixth inning with three more runs on four hits off of Pembroke Post 143’s Chris O’Connor for a 6-0 lead but the East bats simply could not solve the West’s pitching.

Hingham’s Bob Lawton received West Division Most Valuable Player honors after going 3-3 with a double and an RBI-single in the three-run rally in the third inning.

Kingston Post 387’s Adam Gay was tabbed for East Most Valuable Player honors after striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning and picking up a hit and a stolen base. He also played well in rightfield.

Sandwich Post 188 righty Joe Oriola struck out the side in the eighth inning but a pair of errors and a triple brought in two runs for the West (both unearned).

Barnstable Post 206 righty Eric Holzman tossed a scoreless fifth inning and needed just 10 pitches to retire the side. He struck out one.

Sandwich Post 188’s Nick Couhig tossed a scoreless second frame and struck out one batter and Orleans Post 308 southpaw Nick Perito tossed a scoreless fourth inning for the East on just
