He was also named the recipient of the Robert A. McNeece Award for the Cape League’s Most Outstanding Pro Prospect, making him one of the rare few who have won two major Cape League awards in the same season.

Senzel led the Cape Cod Baseball League in RBI this season with 33 during the regular season and he batted .364 for second best in the league.

He led the Brewster Whitecaps in hits (56), doubles (16), home runs (4), RBI (33) and batting average (.364). He was also second on the team in stolen bases with 14.

Senzel will have his name forever etched among some of the Cape League’s greatest all-time legends including past MVP award recipients Justin Smoak (Cotuit, 2006), Evan Longoria (Chatham, 2005), Darin Erstad (Falmouth, 1993-94, winner in 1994) and Jason Varitek (Hyannis, 1991, 1993; winner in 1993).

The Outstanding Pro Prospect award is voted on by Major League Baseball professional scouts. Previous winners include Matt Wieters (Orleans, 2006), Mark Teixeira (Orleans, 1999) and Billy Wagner (Brewster, 1992).

Senzel was the Cape League’s Coca Cola® Player of the Week in week five in addition to being named second baseman to the East Division All-Star team. He was a high school All-American and freshman All-American with the Vols and had another banner season this past spring as a sophomore.
