Cape League Report – August 12th, 2016

The championship series is underway! Game 1 was last night in Falmouth and the home team showed up to play. It was a highly competitive game between the Commodores and the Red Sox. Each team scored one run in the first, and heading into the 4th inning, Falmouth had the lead over Y-D 2-1. But Red Sox got some offense going, and managed 3 runs on three hits to take the 4-2 lead. The ‘Dores answered right back with two runs of their own to tie it up in the bottom of the inning and tacked on the go-ahead in the 5th. Neither team scored another run leaving the final score at Y-D 4, Falmouth 5.

Deacon Liput had a big night for Falmouth as he went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and winning pitcher Jeffrey Passantino struck out 8 Red Sox in over 6 innings of work.

Game 2 is tonight in Yarmouth at 4:00 and if Y-D takes it, the forced game 3 will be in Falmouth on Saturday at 6.
